In the 1960's, American women still looked to European designers for fashion. This book focuses on that period of time when a talented young Parsons student, Donald Brooks, emerged as one of the most influential designers on the American fashion scene. This retrospective tribute will highlight various aspects of Mr. Brooks' career.

As an Oscar and Tony nominee and a Coty and Emmy award winner, Donald Brooks displays a broad scope of design talent. His work ranges from ready-to-wear clothes to custom order perfectionism to memorable stage costumes.

Mr. Brooks is a designer whose work embodies a high standard of excellence. His creativity and versatility is inspirational to everyone who views his work.

Meet the Author
Kathleen Maggio is a long standing faculty member of the Fashion Design Department at Parsons School of Design. She worked with Donald when he was a visiting designer critic for Senior students.

Her current book Altered Clothing, is due out Autumn 2006. This book is inspiration and instruction for updating worn-out favorites and vintage clothes. Step-by-step photographs illustrate the process in detail. A timely publication for reusing and recycling your clothing in an environmentally friendly manner.

She is presently working on an instructional textbook for integrating draping, drafting and drawing. Through illustrations and photography, this book educates fashion design and merchandise students on the basics.
