This is just one
of 27 creative transformations
shown in the book
This 80s linen tunic was missing it’s belt and needed a younger silhouette. It had a Lord & Taylor label with impeccably bound seams on the inside. For a quick transformation, cut off the hem just above the lowest button and side slit. Replace the buttons with silver military types. Make a belt and epaulets with grosgrain ribbons.
Do you have clothes in your closet that you can’t bear to throw away but can’t wear because they don’t fit or look outdated? Allow them to see the light of day again. Transform them using basic cutting, stitching and ornamentation techniques. Recycling clothes makes perfect sense in today’s environment. Refashioning clothes is highly creative and empowering. Be inspired!
Skills you will learn in the techniques section of the book include how to make a thread belt carrier and bound hem to duplicate a couture look.
