
This project, the archive and online book were all conceived of as a platform for drawing attention to more designers. Now this expertise involving research, conservation, archiving, and exhibition, is available to all designers interested in preserving their work and educating others. ![]()
After graduating from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia she worked as a childrens and maternity designer in New York City.
She is currently teaching at Parsons School of Design in the bachelor degree division. Topics include pattern manking, draping and construction. She has also taught at Pratt Institute and Mayer School of Fashion Design.
She obtained her masters degree from Bank Street College of Education and was awarded a Parsons Faculty Development Leave to curate the retrospective exhibition, “Donald Brooks: Designer for All Seasons” (2003). She created an on-line publication to accompany the show.
Kathleen continues to make and alter custom clothes for herself and has recently written a book on the subject, “Altered Clothing: Hip Fixes & Transformations with a Needle & Thread.” (2006 Quarry Books).Her first textbook (co-authored) is in the works and will focus on the fashion fundamentals of draping, drafting and drawing.
She lives and works with her husband in New York City.
